Its Closing Under The Sun of Trust

Before you pay

  1. Find the account and confirm the property, tax year and balance.
  2. Check who is arranging payment and review the current method and any processing fee.
  3. If you pay, save the confirmation and verify the account afterward.

Choose the right office for the question

The Tax Collector handles property tax bills and collection. Property values and exemptions belong with the Property Appraiser, while taxing authorities set the rates. That division of responsibility helps you send the question to the office that can act on it. See the Collector’s explanation.

Before calling, write down the parcel or account identifier, tax year and exact issue. “I need to confirm a posted payment” is a different request from “the exemption on this property looks wrong.” If you still need to find the account, begin with our property tax lookup guide.

Prepare before submitting a payment

  1. Match the property and tax year to the bill you intend to pay.
  2. Review the current balance and official payment instructions.
  3. Check whether a mortgage servicer or closing team is already arranging payment.
  4. Review the payment method and any processing fee before confirming.
  5. Save the confirmation and return to the account to verify the outcome.

The Collector’s payment page provides online, mail and in-person instructions. Methods can differ by payment type and account status. Follow the current official instructions rather than reusing an old mailing slip or assuming every method is available.

SOL TITLE • TITLE INSURANCE & ESCROW

$0 Settlement Fee on Qualifying Transactions

Buying, selling or refinancing in Orange County, Florida? Sol Title can help with title insurance, escrow and closing services. Send the property address and expected closing date so our team can confirm eligibility and prepare your quote.

The $0 settlement fee applies to qualifying transactions. Title insurance premiums and other closing costs still apply. Contact Sol Title for eligibility and an itemized quote.

Understand the regular payment calendar

For the regular annual bill, the Collector lists March 31 as the payment deadline and April 1 as the start of delinquency. Early-payment discounts run from 4% in November to 1% in February. Check the official calendar and instructions for your tax year.

Near a deadline, confirm how the office determines timely receipt. Leave enough time to resolve a rejected payment or account mismatch. If your closing is also approaching, send the deadline and account details to your closing team promptly so the payment question can be addressed together with the transaction.

When taxes are handled through mortgage escrow

If your mortgage payment includes tax escrow, check with the servicer before making an additional payment yourself. Ask which tax year and parcel the servicer plans to pay, then retain the answer with your account records. The Collector notes that a mortgage company may request the tax bill for an escrowed property.

For a purchase or refinance, share any recent payment confirmation with the closing team. A clear record of who is handling the payment helps everyone investigate an apparent duplicate, a pending payment or a difference between documents.

Past-due taxes and installment questions

For an overdue balance, use the dedicated delinquency guidance and request current instructions. Charges can accrue, and accepted payment methods differ from ordinary payments. Do not use an earlier bill amount as a current payoff. The Tax Department help line is 407-434-0312.

The quarterly installment program is a separate process. Eligibility requires taxes to be current and the prior-year tax amount to exceed $100. The official application starts from the property account. Review its terms and confirmation before budgeting around enrollment; submitting a question about installments is not the same as having an approved payment arrangement.
